THAILAND FLOOD DISASTER TO DISRUPT UK SUPPLIES UNTIL 2012

UK IT Distributors have warned that panic buying and severe prices hikes will continue well into next year, following the recent floods in Thailand.

The natural disaster has had a wide spread effect on the global technology business as Thailand is the world second largest supplier of storage memory.

The nation hosts the fabrication plants of a number of global vendors, including Seagate and Western Digital many of whom have had to issue warnings of stock shortages to distributer and reseller partners after having their manufacturing facilities submerged.

We have seen massive shortages. Prices have probably already gone up by 40% .And everyone’s having trouble getting stock. It`s tough out there at the moment.
